Investing in Sustainable Housing - For the Future and Your Savings

Have you thought about investing in a sustainable home? Have you contemplated the benefits of having a low-energy-consuming house or apartment? Not only is sustainable housing better for the environment but also a good opportunity to save money in the long run. In this week’s blog post we meet Alejandra Méndez, Marketing Manager at Exxacon Smart Living, to find out more about sustainable housing.   Exxacon Smart Living is a company that develops and promotes real estate projects – from the search for land to commercialization. They are committed to sustainable building, energy-saving constructions, and creating spaces with personality. Exxacon Smart Living started its activity in Marbella in 2000.  Exxacon Sustainable Development at Mirador de Golf in Estepona[/caption]

Implementations and Benefits

We asked Alejandra Méndez to tell us a bit about sustainable homes and Exxacon’s projects. We soon realized that there’s a lot to learn about the topic. Alejandra Méndez starts by saying that “A sustainable home has different technical and constructive elements which protect the energy resources. For example, a Passivhaus home like the ones in our Urban Litoral promotion, which is also the first Andalusian certified building, features benefits as following:

  1. Excellent Thermal Isolation
  2. Highly Performing Exterior Carpentry
  3. Maximum Sanitation Avoiding Air Infiltration
  4. Absence of Thermal Bridges
  5. Mechanical Ventilation with Energy Recovery”.

Low Energy Consumption

Applying the above 5 principles of the Standard Passivhaus, the minimum energy consumption is achieved:

  • 15 kWh / m2 year for heating and cooling
  • 120 kWh / m2 year for primary energy demand

These energy savings also mean substantial savings of the monthly costs with up to 70% less consumption compared to a traditional home. peralta garden alhaurín de la torre malaga Exxacon New Sustainable Production, Peralta Garden – Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga[/caption]

Sustainable System Installments

In all the promotions of Exxacon, the sustainable elements vary depending on the need of each project. To name some of the implementations, they have solar panels, geothermal and aerothermal, Passivhaus standard, neolysis systems, saline chlorination and thermal bridge breakage. “In general, we achieve a high level of acoustic soundproofing thanks to the quality insulation, the high performing carpentry and glass, as well as the hermeticity that is generated in the house. For us, an eco-friendly home includes different elements and each promotion comes with different customized elements. To mention some of those that we find in a Smart Living home, are ACS Aerothermal systems, Geothermal systems, Ecological Lighting with LED technology, and ecological materials such as polyamide (100% recyclable material) in some of the constructs.  We also use some of the latest filtration systems, such as neolysis or saline chlorination. Additionally, we install USB plug sockets and electric vehicle chargers. Some of our developments like Living Teatinos, Hub Teatinos, Living Colmenar, Urban Litoral, etc. have some of these features”, Alejandra Méndez explains. mijas golf new production Exxacon Sustainable Development in Fairways La Cala Golf, Mijas[/caption]

Quality and Commitment

“When selecting a home, it’s important to make sure that the quality of the construction materials is very high. Also, it’s crucial that it has been built with the latest construction technologies. With this in mind, we are kinder to the environment and are protecting the planet’s resources. We also set a better example for our future development.  In order to achieve the goals for sustainable progress, we need to feel identified with our work and stay committed. We must also ally ourselves with companies that support the same goals. We have to make sure that our homes and the way we live is as sustainable as possible. This, in turn, will make us grow as a society and ensure the well-being of the planet and future generations”, Alejandra Méndez says to MiMove. Post Lock-down Effects

Alejandra Méndez adds that Exxacon are still confident with their business plan despite the pandemic. It might slow down a little but they will continue developing properties as planned. Exxacon has trust in the market and believes that the Real Estate Market has a major impact on the economic recovery. They will keep developing smart living properties and working towards a bright future. At the moment, Exxacon is building more than 800 dwellings and another new development is to be launched in Estepona by the end of the year. The most popular apartments among the buyers are two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments with a terrace.  “Our Smart Living lifestyle involves, in essence, all of the qualities and guarantees that our developments provide. We build properties that create a lifestyle for people who want to live sustainably and environmentally friendly. Exxacon Smart Living is backed by a multidisciplinary team experienced in design, quality, and innovation in the real estate sector”. Popular Among Buyers from Abroad

Alejandra Méndez continues, “A lot of our buyers are from abroad. In Spain, the quality of life is one of the best in the world. Thanks to its weather, education, gastronomy, infrastructure, medical assistance and many other services, people like both living here and coming back for vacation year after year. When buying a property it’s important to trust in a company that has years of experience in the market, is considerate towards the environment, and fulfills the client’s needs”.  To learn more about new production homes we suggest you read our previously posted blog post here.   Connect with Exxacon on Facebook, LinkedIn & Instagram.
