AlmerÃa is a province in the Andalusia region of southern Spain. Along its Mediterranean coast are volcanic cliffs, secluded coves, fishing villages and beach resorts. The region’s sparsely populated interior consists largely of mountains and arid desert. The provincial capital, also called AlmerÃa, is a port town overlooked by La Alcazaba, a 10th-century Moorish fortress housing lush gardens and a museum.
